Name

Putinati, Francesco (1775-1848)

Italian medallist, die-engraver, and sculptor.

Putinati was born in Verona in 1775 and went to Milan as a die-engraver and medalist. He was considered one of the masters of the so-called "black medal", which has a particularly dark patina and was created at the beginning of the 19th century, especially in the mints of Milan and Venice. A medal for the homage of the Tyrolean estates in Innsbruck from 1838 was made by him.

Putinati died in Milan in 1848.
