Junk, Rudolf (23.02.1880 - 20.12.1943) |
Graphic artist and painter. Junk studied German at the University of Vienna and from 1903 with Heinrich Lefler at the Academy of Fine Arts. From 1909 he worked as a graphic artist for the Austrian State Printing Office and designed not only various crown and shilling banknotes, but also numerous securities, letter and postmark stamps. Junk was a member of the Hagenbund until 1922 and director of the “Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt” from 1924 to 1943. Junk designed e.g. the 1000-Kronen note of 1919, the 10-Kronen note of 1922, the 5-Schilling note of 1927 and the 50-Schilling note of 1935. Lit.: T. G. Natter, Rudolf Junk.
