Name

Cappe, Heinrich Philipp (-26.04.1862)

Wool merchant in Hanover. Originally from Hildesheim.

Coin collector in Dresden.

Cappe's first acqusitions took place at the 1833 Ampach sale. Cappe bought the coin collection of Baron Georg von Donop (1776-1845), which included the bequest of the Count von Bentinck's cabinet, from his heir Eduard von Donop (1797-1852) of Coburg in 1852.

Cappe sold his own collection in various parts: Verzeichniss einer sehr bedeutenden Münz-und Medaillen-Sammlung welche nebst einem Anhange von numismatischen Büchern und heraldischen Sammlungen im T. O. Weigel'schen Auctions-Lokale zu Leipzig am 11. Juni 1860).

Coins of Hildesheim were donated to Hildesheim and Goslar (the Goslar part was transferred to the Goslar Stadtmuseum in 1897).
