Sperling, Dr. Emil Andreas (1819-1863 (1864?)) |
Translator (dragoman) of the Royal Prussian embassy in Constantinople. Born in Trier. Sperling published a number of articles on geography and is often referred to as a source in archaeological, historical, and epigraphical reports. A manuscript inventory of his collection of coins (from 1862) is now kept in the Münzkabinett Berlin. His collection was aquired by the Berlin coin cabinet in two parts: One in 1862 [Acc. 1862/28623 on 4 December 1862 for 850 Talers] and the second in 1864 [Acc. 1864/28674.1-103 & 1864/28675.1-48, both on 12 May 1864].
