Obverse	MIXAHΛ - AVTOCRAT [Michael Autocrator]. Michael VI. auf einem Kissen stehend mit Krone und Stola (loros) in der Vorderansicht. In seiner r. Hand einen Stabkreuz und in seiner l. ein Beutel (akakia).
Reverse	MHP - ΘV [MHP ligiert. Meter Theou („Mutter Gottes“)]. Büste der Muttergottes mit Nimbus in der Vorderansicht, die Hände betend erhoben (orans).

Denomination	Tetarteron (Gold) Tetarteron (Gold) Byzantine light-weight gold denomination with the value of c. 22-22 ½ carats. The coin was introduced under Emperor Nikephoros II Phokas (963-969) and continued to be struck until the monetary reform of Alexios I Komnenos (1081-1118) in 1092. During the eleventh century, the coin went through various phases of debasement, with the gold content plummeting in the 1080s.
