KIKPE Foundation's IKMK now online
Besides other artefacts and banknotes, the Athens-based KIKPE Foundation owns a massive collection of coins and numismatic objects (currently 18,060 items), primarily, but not exclusively, of the period of Greek antiquity.
As of today, KIKPE IKMK is online with 651 coins already accessible. In this first phase of our project, we focus on testing the database and its multilingual features, adding new content, and linking into other Open Linked Data applications, such as Pella and BIGR. We aim to highlight the potential and advantages of such a digital presentation of numismatic objects. With the KIKPE Numismatic Collection in a transitional stage and in the wait to be relocated, this portion of holdings is intended to function as a pilot sample, hopefully not only for the main bulk of the Collection but also for digital numismatics in Greece.
